Help Center: Extended Search

Advanced search The advanced search offers the following search options:
  • Topic search
  • Period search
  • Spatial search
Additionally the user can include a thesaurus and he can (de)activate the topic categories. In the "topic search" you can look for a term or topic (see example below). The abstract can be activated with a separate checkbox.
In the 'period search' a period where the data have been created, updated or published, can be selected. For the 'spatial search' the user has two possibilities. The search for a geographical term or the search with a map section (see example below).

All three search issues are combined with each other with AND, i.e. topic AND space AND period.

Additionally the terms can be combined within the enter fields with the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT. These operators are interchangeable in the following way:

ANDORNOT
ANDORNOT
UNDODERNICHT
+/-
 |

A query within the topic search could be for example:

"nature AND reserve AND environmental AND pollution".

A query within the spatial word search could be for example:

"Hessen OR Saarland"

The spatial search can be made additionally to the geographical name via the coordinate search. With the selection box the user can select a german 'Bundesland'. After clicking the button "Select" the 'Bundesland' is displayed on the map.

Another possibility to navigate in the map is to zoom in the map after activating the +/- zoom button. The 1:1 button restores the original state of the map. The navigation within the map is realized with the arrows at the edges. In the 'spatial search' always the displayed area is taken into account. These coordinates are displayed in WGS 84 on the right side of the map.

The displayed coordinates are initially set to "NULL". Only when searching in the map the corresponding values are adapted. To make clear that the coordinate search is now activated the text "current search coordinates" is displayed. The user also has the possibility to deactivate the coordinate search with the checkbox.

Registered users get the field message "My stored queries" on the top right side. Here up to ten queries can be stored. You can select a query with activating the control box. Afterwards the user can select the query and load the form or he can delete the query.

Search result: source list

At the top area the defined search criteria are displayed.
In the middle area the single FMIS with the number of results and their categories are shown. To display the result list of an FMIS the corresponding FMIS has to be selected. Before selecting an FMIS the results per page can be defined.
At the bottom of the page a field is shown to the registered user. Thus the user is enabled to store his search parameters with a name and to use it for a later search.

Search result: document list

At the top area the defined search criteria are displayed. After the separator you can see the name of the FMIS. Directly underneath is the navigation bar where you can go to the result pages. In the result list only the title, period of registration, abstract and keywords are displayed. With the link "display completely" you can go to the detail view of each metadataset.
At the bottom of the page the registered user gets an enter field. Here the user can store his search parameters with a name and use it for a later search.
Another option is to store the result list locally as a file that is separated with a comma (CSV). This file can be read and edited with e.g. Excel.

Detail view

The detail view shows the essential elements of the metadataset. At the top there is the title of the metadataset. In the table below the title in the left column the labels of the right column are displayed. If in the right column a link or an email address is shown they can directly be clicked. With the link "back to document list" you can go back to the result list.
