Assistant page 1

The search assistant gives supports on 3 pages for generating an advanced query. Here each field is explained. In the 'topic search' you can retrieve a topic or term (see example below).
The abstract can be activated with a special checkbox. The abstract contains a short description of the metadataset. Because the description could be a larger text you should be careful because the size might have an effect on the search performance of the system.
In the 'period search' you can select a period when the data are created, updated or published.
For the 'spatial search' you can search for a geographical term or you can use a map section (see example below).
A geographic name could be an administrative unit (Bundesland, Regierungsbezirk, Kreis und Gemeinde) or geographical classifications of natural landscapes (river, mountain, landscape).

The Geo-Thesaurus contains about 48.000 geographic names and relations between locations. The environment thesaurus contains more than 39.000 terms that are linked with each other. These thesauri support the user in his retrieval.
By selecting topic categories you can reduce respectively specify your search. You can get a detailed assignement of the expert metainformation systems by selecting the menu point "FMIS Info".

You can make a 'spatial search' additionally to the geogaphic name via the coordinate search. With the selection box you can select a 'Bundesland'. After clicking the button "Select" the "Bundesland" is displayed on the map. Another possibility is to zoom in the map after activating the +/- zoom button. The 1:1 button restores the original state of the map. The navigation within the map is realized with the arrows at the edges. In the 'spatial search' always the displayed area is taken into account. These coordinates are displayed in WGS 84 on the right side of the map.
The displayed coordinates are initially set to "NULL". Only when searching in the map the corresponding values are adapted. To make clear that the coordinate search is now activated the text "current search coordinates" is displayed. The user also has the possibility to deactivate the coordinate search with the checkbox.
