Help Center: Simple Search

Simple search

To search a certain term please enter into the search field the term you are looking for and press the button 'Start Search'. To combine several terms you can use the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT. These operators are interchangeable in the following way:

ANDORNOT
ANDORNOT
UNDODERNICHT
+/-
 |

A query within the topic search could be for example:

"nature AND reserve AND environmental AND pollution".

Case sensitivity can be ignored.

With the links "Advanced Search" and "Assistant" you can go to the corresponding additional search mechanisms.

Query results: List of sources

At the head of the user interface you can still see the simple search area. This enables the user to refine the query. Furthermore, the query can be transferred to the universal search engine "Google".
At the bottom several "Fachmetainformationssysteme (FMIS)" (Expert metainformation systems) are displayed with the number of results and their categories. You have to select the FMIS for which you want to display the result list. Before selecting an FMIS the results per page can be defined.

Query results: List of documents

At the head of the user interface you can still see the simple search area. You still have the possibility to refine the query and the query can be transferred to the universal search engine "Google". Underneath the standard display of the simple search the name of the FMIS is displayed. Furthermore, there is the navigation bar where you can go to the result sets. In the result list only the title, the period of registration, the abstract and keywords are displayed. With the link "display completely" you can go to the detail view of the single metadataset.

Detail view

The detail view shows the essential elements of the metadataset. At the top the title of the metadataset is displayed. In the table underneath the title the labels of the right column are displayed in the left column. If in the right column a link or an email address is shown, you can click on them. With the link "back to the document list" you get to the previous result list.
